Carolina Herrera RTW Spring 2021
The motto behind Carolina Herrera’s latest RTW spring 2021 collection was the inspiration to get dressed again. With the lockdowns and almost no social life, creative director Wes Gordon showed the need and the willingness for women to get dressed.
According to the latest collection, the clothes are for living in, going out, being present and seen in the world. The spring collection brings just that and even more. According to Gordon, it is time to forget the loungewear and start dressing up. To capture the need and sense of occasion and dressing up for it, the new line was a delightful fusion of flamboyance and restraint. There were elements present from the house founder’s archive, especially the classic white shirt that perfectly mixed with ruffles, dots and volume.
The digital fashion show, however, featured live models and took place in the old Williamsburg Savings Bank headquarters in Brooklyn.
Gordon explored a bit of more focused inspiration with Mia Farrow’s spare and innocent mode and Sade, with her sensuality. The result was a line-up that featured smart restrain, all-flat shoes, triple-loop bow bodice. There were also different short and long dresses in black and pink, crop top over high-rise trousers. Similarly to the crop top appeared a bolero, with mannish trousers and brogues. Suitable for the season, there were numerous short, flirty dresses, with charming designs. The options varied from plain white minis to black slips with big bow details, embroidery with white petals, and a lot of pink tulles.
Besides this fresh elegance, Gordon delivered fresh shirting stripes and other looks that will serve as great daywear choices. However, the nod and the designs of the overall collection were for dressing up for events and falling back in love with the fashion.
Alexander McQueen RTW Spring 2021
As ahead of the creative division for Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton has quite a dramatic vision. Namely, her take on the spring line was all about cocoon shoulders resembling the look of butterfly wings and tulle. And this was not all. There were other fabrics that she pulled out from the deadstock pile.
This was not something new for Burton. She had already used the deadstock for pre-spring, trying to re-woke in all-new fresh ways, and she successfully managed. It was covered with all different kinds of prints and colors that were bold and vivid. Also, there was the option of splicing the fabrics with different textures and finishes, all in the service of high fashion.
Another important thing that can come out as a big characteristic was her idea to strip everything back and give it an X-ray vision. That could best be seen in the spare faille dresses with corset tops and long full ballerina skirts. Also, quite appealing was the dress with airy layers of lots of tulles that delivered the look like a cloud of cotton candy. The other details that perfectly announced the spring season was the puffy sleeves, grandiose pieces such as trenchcoats, cotton midi-dresses, and denim jackets. This perfect mixture was accompanied by a biker leather jacket with big tulle sleeves that make quite a boom.
The shape, silhouette, and volume, as well as the beauty of the bare-bones, was the main inspiration behind the creative process of the spring collection. Digging dip into the essence of the unique fashion approach, Burton saw the need to present a world that is changed with emotion and human connection. As for the color palette, it was a perfect blend between the strong and the sensual. The light and pastel colors of the spring were perfectly adding to the beauty of the designs themselves. There were also the darker shades for the ultimate fashionistas who prefer to keep it classy and simple.
Michael Kors Collection RTW Spring 2021
Michael Kors is one of the rare designers that creates and designs fashion that will be fashionable both now and ten years from now. And he managed to show right that with the spring RTW 2021. What comes highly appreciated, especially in the times of pandemic, fabulously shows the intersection of function, ease, and luxury that was somehow forgotten during the entire staying at home period.
The ability to touch and create something that is needed right at that moment is what makes Kors successful and appreciated on the fashion scene for almost 40 years. The challenge this year was whether luxury clothing is really needed for the life at home?
The spring collection delivers confidence through the clothes and accessories that will make any women feel best and also feel great on the skin. The fashion show was set in the community garden of the New York Restoration Project, and it was the perfect place to reflect his creativity during the lockdown. The collection is characterized as a timeless one, where the wearer can turn to over and over, even 10 years from now, and still feel fashionable.
What made it so extraordinary and unique was the inclusion of cashmere sweaters over languid skirts, tailored looks cut with variations of the shirtdress. There were some half-belt and wide and there were some more sensual versions in shirting stripes, with rows of buttons to the sides.
The new collection offers more streamlined alternatives, including sexy midriff-baring dress, lean suitings, and ultra-chic trenchcoat. When it comes to dressing up, there was a sequined tank and T-shirt dresses, goddess-looking gowns in brown, featuring braided details.
The fabulous mixture between the casual and the elegant, with the dose of high-end luxury, proved once again that Kors is impeccable in his designing and choosing the timeless pieces that one would gladly get back to.
That is it for today, I hope that you liked the reviews.
